How To Apply Foundation!

We have all asked the questions about how to apply foundation, the truth is there is no correct answer! Everyone has their own preferences on what tools they prefer and what looks best on their skin. I have narrowed it down to 5 most popular ways to apply foundation and im going to tell you a bit about them all so you can try and find what suits you. :)

Flat Paddle Brush.

This is one of the most recognisable foundation brushes and also the first I ever used. Apply the foundation using upwards and downwards motions to create an even layer on the skin. The end of the brush is rounded making it easy to get around tricky areas like around the eyes. When you have applied the foundation I would usually go back with the bush and simply pat over the face to make sure there are no streak marks. I think you get medium to full coverage using this type of bush and you may also find you have to wash them more regularly.

Buffing Brush.

A very popular brush and one I use on a day to day basis. They are very easy to use with circular buffing motions and the foundation looks very natural as it is worked into the skin. This is the best brush to achieve a sheer to medium coverage foundation however you can build it up! I don't usually use this for a night out when I want more coverage. With this brush you get a flawless even finish with minimal effort and I would definitely recommend this type.

Stippling Brush.

A little similar to a buffing brush in the sense that you use the same buffing motions to massage the foundation over the skin. With these type of brushes, the bottom part is very dense compared the top which is which means the brush does not absorb all your foundation and ables you to use it all. I think with this brush you can achieve sheer to full coverage depending how much product you use. They are a very good brush they create an even flawless finish with ease and they are very versatile.

Sponge.

They come in all shapes and sizes and are very useful to have if you are makeup artist as you can use a fresh one every time! I prefer the rounded sponges like the beauty blender which is my favourite way to apply foundation. Use the damp and apply in patting motions over the skin, you can create sheer to full coverage again however I prefer these to achieve full coverage as it does not end up looking cakey is flawless and perfectly blended.

Fingers.

Finally the cheapest option is your fingers. It can get a little messy however a lot of people prefer to use this method. You can achieve sheer to full coverage, with the warmth of your hands warming the foundation helping it to blend really naturally. This method gives you the best control as you can place the foundation and blend where you like.

So there you go guys, this is my take on what I think about these methods and I hope you found it helpful.
