5 Product Face!

Today I didn't have much time to do my makeup, im not doing anything special in particular but im visiting family and popping out with my mum so I needed a little bit of something to make me look alive. As I sat down I thought I would try and do my makeup with as small amount of products as possible, so I reached for my favourite products I use all the time and picked out which ones I would use from there. This is really handy to do if your in a rush or you just don't feel you need a full face of makeup on, so this is what I chose:

Revlon Photo Ready Foundation - I like this as an every day foundation its cheap and I love the coverage and finish, it has a nice glow to it too so its really comfy on my dryer skin.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Love the coverage and feel of this, it lasts all day and I have mentioned it in many posts. I chose this today as I don't need to set it with powder.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer - I used this to warm up the face by using it over the areas that would naturally catch the sun

Revlon Highlight Palette in Rose Glow - I used this as my blusher it gives a sheer wash of colour and a night highlight at the same time.

Benefit Gimme Brow - When I don't have time to do my brows I use this its quick and easy to use it fills in any gaps and sets all the hairs in place.

So there is my 5 product face today what would yours be?

Fridays Face Off!

So its black Friday today, I hadn't heard of this before however I have been bombarded with emails about offers and discounts all day so before I went hardcore with the internet shopping I thought id show you my makeup.

Face:
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector
MAC Sudio Fix Fluid Foundation
Cream Foundation Palette for contouring
Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Revlon Highlight Palette in Rose Glow

I mixed the illuminator with the foundation as I find it a bit drying on its own. I then used my cream foundation palate to contour the cheeks and conceal under the eyes. I then Set everything with powder using my beauty blender. I finished by applying the bronzer to the cheeks, around the forehead and down the neck and used the highlighter as a sheer blusher.

Eyes:
ABH Brow Wiz Pencil
ABH Tinted Brow Gel
Benefit They're Real Mascara
L'Oreal Exaggerate Eye Pencil in Perfect Plum
Benefit Bright Eyes Pencil
Tropic Eye Shadow Palette in Brown Eyed Girl

I filled in my brows with my brow wiz pencil then set with the brow gel. I then used the purple eye pencil to line the top on the eye and ended it a flick, I used a small smudge brush lightly over it to soften it. I then lined the lower lash line the went over it again with the same brush. I lined the water line with the bright eyes pencil to make them look a bit more awake and open. I finished with mascara top and bottom.

Lips:
Illamasqua Matte Lip Liquid in Surrender

I went over the lips with this let it set and then went over with a second coat.

How To Contour and Highlight!

Contouring and highlighting has become a massively popular way of doing makeup today. Kim Kardashian West was one of the first we saw create a flawless and perfect face shape using this method, her makeup artists really are magic! No one ever really knew how to create it until makeup artists started to share their little secrets and tips on how you can create a similar look yourself. Now it is so popular and the base of many peoples makeup routines I thought I would show a really easy way of how I do it. I by no means think I am perfect! Its quite basic but creates more definition to the face. If it helps any of you then that's a bonus!

So first of all contouring and highlighting is a way of emphasising certain areas of your facial features or with an illusion creating what you don't actually have. At the same time as hiding and drawing attention away from other areas. When we highlight we want that area to be bright and pop out, when we contour we are creating a shadow and pushing back areas.

So lets get started, first of all as everyone's face shapes are different, areas which you highlight and create shadow will always be different even though the basic concepts are the same. So practice and find what suits you best.

I firstly applied my foundation and concealed my under eyes, I prefer to do this first as I can colour correct and create an even base to start with. You can contour and highlight with any products weather it be creams or powders but here ive used creams to make it easier to show you. When choosing a shade of product the easy way is for the highlight one or two shades lighter than your foundation and for the contour one or two shades darker.

First for contouring, we want to apply this firstly down and into the hollows of the cheeks, this will push that area back creating the illusion of fuller cheek bones. Secondly from the temples around the top the forehead by the hairline, this will create a smaller forehead and more round shape. Down the sides of the nose and across the tip will put those areas into shadow therefore when we highlight the nose will appear shorter and smaller. Finally along the jawline, this will make so the face will not appear as long.

Now to highlight. Firstly we need to go under the eyes, by drawing a triangle shape like this will help emphasise and create the sharpness of the cheekbones. Down the centre of the nose to help create the illusion of a smaller nose. The centre of the forehead to help lift that that area and together with the contour will create a more round and smaller forehead. Under the brow bone to emphasise the arch and lift the brows. Finally the centre of the chin and under the cheekbone contour, this will help create that sharp jawline, making the face appear not as long.

The final and most important step is the blending, I like to use a damp beauty blender but you can use anything you like. The key is to blend the edges of the product we have applied so there is no harsh lines. We do no not want to blend them too much as we will lose the effect we are trying to create!

As you can see here the face has more definition and more warmth than before we started. Try to pic the highlight or contour to blend first then go onto the other so you are not mixing the shades up too much.

So that is how I contour and highlight, you can make this even more defined by going over with powders, this will make it more distinctive and also set the products in place all day. Hope this was helpful.

Fall Makeup!

Welcome back, today I did a really easy wintery makeup. My eyes are playing up in this weather they are so sore :( so I didn't really fancy a lot of eye makeup so I went for a bolder lipstick which creates a nice effect.

Face:
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow

I first mixed a pump of foundation with a pump of the skin perfector to make it into a really dewy foundation. I did this because I have really dry skin and last time I tried this is was just too dry on me so mixing this in makes it really glowing and more comfortable. If you have oily skin naturally you wont need to do this. I then concealed under my eyes. I set the under eyes with the loose powder but nowhere else as I wanted to keep the glow from the foundation. I finished with Bronzer to warm up the face and the highlighter, which I used as a blusher.

Eyes:
No7 Eye Shadows in True Gold and Truffle
MAC Teddy Eye Pencil
ABH Brow Wiz
ABH Tinted Brow Gel
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Amy Childs False Lashes in Flirt

I did my brows in the usual way. For eyes I first applied the sheer gold eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye and the eyelid. I then thinly lined the top lash line with the brown eye pencil. I applied a little bronzer into the crease to tie in with the bronzer on the cheeks, I find it evens everything out. I finished with a small amount of truffle eye shadow on the bottom lash line just to add a bit of definition. I finished with mascara and false lashes.

Lips:
MAC Diva Lipstick

I applied this all over the lips.

Hope you like this easy wintery makeup

MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter!

I brought this a couple of weeks ago and thought I would do a little first thoughts post. This is the MAC prep and Prime Highlighter. It is a highlighting concealer which is used to brighten areas such as the under eyes, forehead, chin or down the nose or anywhere you want to stand out whilst doing your makeup. I have tried many highlighting pens like this in the past and I have seen a lot of people using this so I gave it a try.

It is a pen highlighter which you twist at the bottom and a little brush tip which you apply the product with. I don't think that these pens are the most sanitary however I do like that you can see how much you are applying with the twisty bit. This is not a concealer for covering blemishes etc this is a brightening concealer therefore once I have done my foundation and concealed my dark circles, I will then use this to highlight and brighten parts of the face I wish to stand out. It does come in different shades too, I chose this shade as I have a more yellow under tone to my skin so this works well with my base. It is a more thicker consistency to other pens I have used before however it does blend easily. I find it to be quite full coverage and it does give a really nice finish, but you can sheer it out with a damp sponge if you want to. I don't find it to settle in any lines and it looks nice set with powder or left on its own. Overall im pretty pleased I like its staying power and coverage and its perfect for creating that perfect highlight and contour!

Dark smokey eye!

No makeup look is more popular than a smokey eye and they don't have to be really difficult and need loads of different products. I like to do makeup on my blog that I know anyone can achieve so here I a really simple way of doing a smokey eye.

Face:
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation
Illamasqua Skin Base Lift Concealer
MAC Prep and Prime in Light Boost
Sleek Blusher in Chantilly
Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I applied the foundation all over the face then concealed my under eyes with the skin base lift concealer. I highlighted the under eyes and chin and forehead with the prep and prime then set with the finishing powder. I used the bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks and around the hairline and applied blusher to the cheeks.

Eyes:
Avon Black Eye Kohl
Collection Eyeshadows, Matte Brown and Matte Skin Shade
Mac Eye Pencil in Teddy
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
ABH Brow Wiz Pencil
Benefit Gimme Brow

I started with doing my brows in the usual way. I then used a bit of tape on the outer corner of the eyes to help create a straight wing. I applied the black eye pencil all over the lid into the crease and under the eye too then blended it out at the edges. I then used a brown eye shadow into the crease and around the eye to smoke it out and make sure there and no harsh lines. I then highlighted under by brows with a skin coloured shadow. I added more and blended more until I was happy with it. I lined the water line with the brown eye pencil and went over the top lash line with the black pencil again to finish. Last but not least I applied mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

Lips:
NYX Lip Pencil in Pale Pink
MAC Lipstick in Fleur D'Coral

I applied the lip pencil all over the lips and patted the lipstick all over the top.

So that is my dark smokey eye I hope you like it!

Whats In My Essentials Draw?

Along with my makeup collection, I have a draw in my table full of random essentails that I use on a day to day basis. They are the more boring side to makeup but I could not be without these ramdom bits. Im sure you all have most of these on your makeup tables too. Although I do use most of these in my freelance kit these are the essentails in my personal draw.

Tissues - I always keep a box of tissues to hand. Im always making a mess I need to quickly clear up or wipe over bottles and things once ive used something. I even use tissues to catch fallout when doing my eyeshadow. They always come in handy.

Cotton Buds - Again im sure you all use these quite often too. I use these to cleaning up the edges of eyeliner or lipstick or errasing little mistakes. These are also handy to scoop out cream products from containners which keeps them more sanitary.

Cotton Pads - I use these mainly to remove makeup and nail varnish, or to wipe over with toner etc. they come in handy all the time and I use these every day.

Face Wipes - I dont usually use face wipes to remove my makeup but sometimes I do when im in a rush. I also keep these on hand to clean up little mistakes when doing my makeup.

Hand Wipes - im always mixing products on the back of my hand and swatching them so I always keep hand wipes to wipe them clean after.

Water Spray - I always keep water spray in case I need to dampen a sponge or brush to apply product. I use it mainly to keep my beauty blender damp when doing foundation and concealer.

Alcohol Spray - I dont disinfect my products every time I use them as I no they are only used on me however once in a while I will wipe over my products and spray them with alcohol. I use this on my brushes every time I clean them too

Brush Cleaner - This is really handy when changing eyeshadow colours or blushers and swapping between products etc. You can quickly clean any product off them and use straight away as this drys instantly.

Witch Hasel - I keep this handy as it is really good if you find you are irriteted by a product. It sooths the area nicely and stops irritation.

Lip Balm - I always use a lip balm before applying makeup to make my lips nice and soft for lipstick.

Micellar Water - I like to take my makeup off sometimes with this as its really kind to the skin. Its nice to use this over the face before moisturiser and makeup to make sure the skin is clean. Mainly I use it for cleaning up edges with my cotton buds.

Scissors - You never no when you will need a pair of scissors. You usually cant find them when you need them so I always keep some in my draw.

So that is my random essentials I use all the time, please share yours below too!

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Treatment!

If I have be honest im not someone who takes great care of my hair. I shampoo and condition and that is it for me really apart from a little heat protection spray too. Ive always been quite lucky with my hair its quite thick and I don't have too many problems with it. I don't buy hair products mainly because I don't like the feel of them in my hair but I do like to buy the odd treatment now and again just to hydrate it especially in the winter time.

This is the Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp treatment I got these from Asda for £4.98 and you get 4 in a pack. It is a wash out treatment which you use after you have shampooed similar to a concentrated conditioner, is what it reminds me of. You massage it into your hair and scalp and leave in for 60secconds then wash out. You get 15ml in each sachet which is a great amount, I have pretty long hair and there is more than enough.

I really like that it is simple to use and that it doesn't involve leaving any product in your hair. The scent is really nice and fresh I can still smell this a few days after I have used it. I could tell after the first time I used how hydrating it was, my hair was super soft and the ends were not dry at all. It says on the box that this product contains Tea Tree extract and Sunflower Seed oil which nourishes the scalp at the cellular level, leaving hair 3 times stronger. I don't know how to test the strength of hair however I have found the overall feel of my hair to be improved.

I think this is a really nice product. I use this ever 3 weeks or so and I love the results. Split ends haven't appeared, it feels much more fluffy and hydrated and it overall looks more healthier and shiny. I love the way my hair feels when I use this and by using this on a regular basis I feel my hair has improved a lot.

Purlple Party Eyes!

Welcome back to my little blog. Im still working on my lighting and background. I went to pick up some fairy lights to hang up behind  today but there was none I liked so will have to have a hunt for some. Today I did a really easy party makeup. Its sparkly which is perfect for the festive season. I did something that anyone will be able to do and it doesn't involve that much effort either :)

Face:
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel
MAC Prep and Prime in Light Boost
Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Sleek Blusher in Chantilly

I didn't do anything special really just applied foundation first then a little of the collection concealer. I did a little contouring with the cream bronzer and highlighted the under eyes forehead and chin with the Prep and Prime. I set everything  with the loose powder then applied bronzer and blusher to the cheeks.

Eyes:
ABH Brow Wiz Pencil
Benefit Gimme Brow
L'Oreal Black Gel Liner
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
NYX Light Purple Shadow (out of a palette I had)
MAC Reflects Gold Pigment
Ardell Demi Wispies False Lashes
Too Faced Glitter Glue

I did my brows in the normal way to start. For the eyes I simply lined the top of the eye with a large wing. I then applied a light purple eyeshadow only to the inner corner of the eye. This gives a really nice effect and makes the eyes pop, its easy to do this if you don't want to mess around with a full eye makeup. I then used a little of the glitter over the top of the purple and then applied some of the glitter pigment to make it more party appropriate! I finished with mascara top and bottom then false lashes.

Lips:
NYX Lip Pencil in Dolly Pink
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in African Queen

I used then lip pencil all over the lips then the gloss on top.

So that is my simple party look hope you like it.

Subtle smokey eye!

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday, the weather has been so terrible here I have refused to venture outside. This week I ordered some new lighting to take my photos as I was finding it hard to take any due to it being so dark. I really like them I'm just trying to figure out how to use them and get the best out of them. So my pics may not be 100% the best. I will get there. If you have any advice on lighting please share! I have tested them a little by doing my makeup today so thought id share.

Its just a subtle smokey eye that everyone can do I think it looks really nice for wintery days:)

Face:
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl

I applied a small amount of foundation to the face, I have never tried this foundation before but it is quite matte and full coverage. I then concealed my under eyes but didn't set anything as I didn't feel I needed to. I finished with bronzer and blusher and a little of the highlighter on the cheeks.

Eyes:
ABH Brow Wiz Pencil
Benefit Gimme Brow
Tropic Brown Eyed Girl Shadow Palette
MAC Teddy Eye Pencil

I did my brows in the usual way then used the warm shimmery shade from the palette all over the lid and under the eye. I then lined all around the eye with the eye pencil and blended it out with the darkest matte brown shade from the palette. I used the cooler grey/brown shade in the crease to make sure there were no harsh lined. I finished with lining the water line with the same pencil and applying mascara top and bottom.

Bare Minerals Lip Pencil in Thrilled

One of my favourite lip pencils, I used this all over the lips.

A New Self Tanner!

At the moment I am determined to keep a little glow this winter as I feel I look ill when I get too pale. However even though I want to keep a bit of a tan, I don't want it to be too much effort to keep on top of. I have been using this for a while now and its working really well. This is the No7 Perfectly bronze Quick Dry Spray. I chose the darker one for no reason really I didn't really want the lighter one in case you couldn't really see it. It was £12.75 which I thought was a little dear however I had some extra points on my boots card and it had caught my eye so of course I wanted it then!

So first of all to bottle is very similar to an aerosol can and when you spray it, it come out in a really fine even spray so you can still control how much you want to apply and where. It says to use this on clean moisturised skin which I do as this avoids streaking (I do exfoliate first too). You simply spray it over an area and then rub it in gently washing you hands when finished. I find it easy to do one body part at a time then I no I haven't missed anywhere. I find it so easy to apply and it rubs in to easy and quickly. It will then develop over the next couple of hours.

The smell I think is AMAZING I have never smelt a fake tan which is as nice as this one, it may just be me but I love it! It advises to wait 10 mins for it to dry but I personally found it to be much quicker to dry I was really impressed. When dried it really has dried, there is no sticky feeling at all which I love and I also found it did not transfer on and clothes or bedding at all!

Overall I am really impressed with this! I have used No7 for many years but never a self tanner, I usually don't like to switch from what I know with tanners in case I have a disaster but this I think I will purchase again. Its easy to do awkward areas like you back and I love that its so easy to keep up with and controllable whilst using it. I simply use this at night once or twice a week to keep the colour I want.

Illamasqua Skin Base Lift Concealer!

This is a concealer I have been wanting to try for a while now. I have seen a few people on instagram use this, however there hasn't been a massive hype about it. This is the Illamasqua Skin Base Lift Concealer. I first heard of this by seeing makeup artists from illamsqua using it on instagram, it looked so flawless so when I went to Liverpool not long ago I brought it. It comes in 7 different shades with warm peachy tones which will match every skin tone, there is also a white version which its great idea as you can mix it with others to brighten them for a really highlighted effect. I purchased light 2, as I just wanted an everyday concealer which was only slightly lighter than my foundation just to brighten the area.

So I have been trying it out for a while and I have really fallen in love. I have never used a cream concealer on myself before but it is so easy to use. It is a really creamy texture making it so easy to blend onto the skin and also doesn't disturb any other product you have already on the skin. The coverage is amazing, its full coverage however does not feel cakey at all. I don't always set this with powder, I don't find it moves or settles in any lines however you can set with powder, it doesn't change the effect of the product. It makes the under eyes look and feel so hydrated and flawless, it really lifts the are and brightens it. It is such an amazing product.

The main reason I wanted to try this is as I use the Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in my freelance kit, I wanted to try this so I could maybe purchase these as well for my kit. This I will definitely be doing. The products are so versatile you can mix to create a really highlighted concealer and also use the darker shades for contouring. For a freelance makeup multi use products are so handy.

It is such a lovely concealer which its great coverage, gives flawless skin I know the price may be a little high however you don't need loads as its super pigmented and a little goes a really long way. Its my new favourite!

Simple Saturday Makeup!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween last night, I didn't manage to get a post up yesterday but I thought I would do a really simple makeup for you today. After all that partying and all that makeup from last night I thought this might be more appropriate for you today. I don't tend to wear much makeup if im just chilling about at the weekend, so this is my Saturday face!

For the face I used Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, I really like this one as its got a dewy finish which is nice on my dryer skin. I concealed my under eyes with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, I love the coverage of this and it lasts all day. I didn't set with powder as I don't find I need to with everyday makeup. I finished by mixing a little Benefit Hoola Bronzer and Rimmel Natural Bronzer over the cheeks and forehead to add a bit of warmth, and Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover to the cheeks.

For the eyes I just used a little Maybelline The Falsies Mascara to the top and bottom eyelashes and Benefit Bight Eyes Pencil in the water line to brighten them. For the brows I applied Benefit Gimme Brow just to thicken them and keep them in place.

Finally for the lips I used Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. Its a really nice pink gloss which is moisturising and really comfy which is perfect for everyday.

So that's my simple Saturday face hope you like it.
