Blown-out Smokey Eye!

Hi everyone, although my prom series is over I still want to keep on doing my makeup posts as you seem to be enjoying them. I really like creating them too so there will be lots more to come, today is a blown out smokey eye.

Face:
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
MUFE Cream Concealer Palette
Maybelline The Eye Eraser Concealer
No7 Loose Translucent Powder
Urban Decay Concealer Pencil in M16
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze
L'oreal Blusher in Sandalwood Pink
Stilla Kitten Eye shadow

I first applied the foundation all over the face with a beauty blender. I then used the MUFE cream concealer under the eyes, then used the Maybelline concealer over the top and also in other places I wanted to highlight. I contoured with the concealer pencil then used the hoola bronzer to help blend it out. I buffed the Rimmel bronzer over the cheeks and around the face to add warmth. I finished with applying blusher to the apples of the cheeks and highlighter to the top of them using the Stilla kitten eye shadow.

Eyes:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Ash
Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Stilla In The Light Eyeshadow Palette
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
Stilla Smudge Stick in Damsel
False lashes

To start I filled in my brows and set them with the gel. I then primed the the eyelids with the NYX pencil then started my applying Bare Eye shadow all over the lid. I used Bliss with a big fluffy brush into the crease. To create the winged-out look I used Sandstone first to create the shape and built it up with Ebony. I used the same two eye shadows for the under eyes following on the shape and making sure it all blended around nicely. It took a lot of time so you just have to be patient, keep blending and build up slowly. I lined the top lash line and lower water line with the pencil then applied mascara. I finished by applying false lashes (not sure which these were) and Kitten eye shadow in the inner corners.

Lips:
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel
Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee

I used the Lip Pencil in the outer corners then the lipstick all over.

Hope you like this makeup look.

How To Clean Your False Eyelashes!

Garnier micellar water and Ardell demi wispies false eyelashes

I'm sure most of us now wear false lashes for nights out and special occasions. Though did you know that you dont have to throw them away after twice wearing them becase they are cacked up with product and looking a bit gross. Don't fall into the trap of buying new ones every time you are going out. You can get so many more wears out of your false lashes without damaging them and save yourself alot of money by simply cleaning them with things you already have in your draws! You will need:

- False lashes which need a good clean
- Small shallow dish
- Cotton swabs
- Makeup remover water/ Micellar water

1. Place both of the lashes into the bowl
2. Poor your micellar water into the bowl so it almost reaches the top of the lashes
3. Use one cotton swap to hold the lash down, then with another gently rub to clean away any pruduct off the lashes
4. Once you have cleaned both lashes take them out and dry with a little tissue

Now you have nice clean pair of false lashes which look like new, and wear them again and again.

Umberto Giannini / Curl Friends Scrunching Jelly!

A lot of you may not know this but I have naturally very curly hair. It wasn't until I reached my late teens that I started to wear it naturally not only because super straight hair was all the rage in those days, I was not confident at all to wear it like this. It sounds so silly to think I would never dare wear my hair how it naturally looks but I think we can all think of things we wish we could change about our younger selves.

Curly hair is hard to maintain, I think you have to really take care of the ends and we also don't was the 'Frizzy' curly look going on as that's really not cute. Over the years I have mainly been using different mosses to maintain the frizz and keep it looking fresh however, as I have told you before I can not stand the feel of product in my hair. I Received this at Christmas time of someone and it was a set of Umberto Giannini which had products in especially for curly hair.

I had never heard of this brand before so I tried it out straight away, and was really impressed. The set was from the Curl Friends range and also contained the shampoo and conditioner which were really lovely. The main product I have fell in love with and am still using is the Create A Curl Scrunching Jelly. This is suitable for anyone who has any type of natural curl to their hair. It De-frizzes, defines the curls and makes your hair look really glossy.

When I read the back of the packaging after using it I could not believe that it actually ticked the boxes and did everything it said it would. After washing my hair I use a towel to soak up any excess water, I then comb through my hair with a wide tooth comb (which I also have from this brand). Finally I turn my head upside down and scrunch this into the hair like you would with a moose, then leave to dry. I find my hair is not frizzy at all and my curls are definitely more defined. I don't have to touch my hair at all with any tools to get the look I want. The picture of my hair above have not been touched and I have only used this one product after shampooing. My curls last a really one time and I have also brush through them with the comb to freshen them and it doesn't damage the curls at all.

The main thing I also love about this product is that you can not feel it at all. Its doesn't make your hair feel greasy or irritated, its not sticky and doesn't make you hair feel hard like a moose would. I will definitely continue to use this product as it works great with my hair and will try other products in this and the other ranges too.

How To Avoid Clumpy Mascara!

There is nothing I hate more than when I have spent ages doing my makeup then I come to apply mascara and it just clumps up like a bit spidery mess! It is impossible then to remove it without destroying your eye makeup so you have to just make do with clumpy lashes. does anyone else feel like this? Here are 5 tips for you are applying your mascara to avoid those spider leg lashes!

1. Comb through your lashes first. Use a spoolie to brush the lashes through first this will separate the lashes so they don't stick together when you apply the mascara.

2. Curl your lashes. I find this makes a massive difference as is it not only lifts them, it makes all the lashes face and lie all the same way. If the lashes are crossing over each other or facing different ways they clump together a lot more when you apply the mascara.

3. Wipe the mascara wand before you apply. This is one of the most important things I do. Use a tissue to wipe off excess mascara before you apply so you don't apply too much straight away.

4. Apply multiple coats straight away. Try to avoid applying more coats when the mascara has dried, apply multiple coats straight after each other to build up to what you want. If you wait until it has dried the lashes will already be set in that position therefore applying more mascara will only clump them together.

5. Any clumps you do get have a fresh spoolie on hand. If you apply your mascara and end up with way too much product on your lashes, you can brush through them with a fresh spoolie, which will remove any excess product and separate the lashes at the same time.

So there are a few tips I use when doing my mascara to avoid those annoying clumps, hope this help you.

5 tips when feeling uninspired!

We all have those weeks where we encounter the 'bloggers block'. I definitely  have those times where I feel very uninspired and don't feel I have anything worthy to post. I hate the thought of just putting up any old review or something quite random to what my blog is about. You feel as long as there is something up your safe, then regretting it a few days later when you finally admit to yourself after having next to no views that you have actually let your blog down by posting content which it not up to scratch. I think in some cases its better not to post at all than forcing something when your heart isn't really in it. At the moment I feel like I am going through one of these stages and its just one of those things we have to get on with, therefore to make us all feel a bit better here are 5 tips for when we are lacking a bit if inspiration!

1. Buy Magazines - I am not a magazine reader at all however when I feel a little uninspired, I buy a few fashion magazines and flick through for ideas for blog post. They are full of ideas when it comes to beauty and fashion, what is in and what is not. I also love to look at all the different colours and pictures, how they position products etc. Everything is all so eye catching everything there will sure be something that will trigger a blog post idea.

2. Start to research for new blogs to follow - I used to only follow a small number of blogs however I have gained so much more inspiration from following more bloggers. There is so much to be learned from one another.

3. Instagram - I am such an Instagram nerd. It is my favourite social networking sight and is also where I get a lot of inspiration for my makeup posts. I also like to pic out tips for photography and picture editing too.

4. Take a break - Blogging can become a little intense sometimes and its so easy to get into that spiral of feeling pressured to get a post up, and if your not feeling very motivated taking a little break could be the best thing. Even just a week or two can give your mind a little break and help you find the fun and pleasure again which you get from writing.

5. Spring Cleaning - Yes strange I know but nothing gets me more motivated than having a really good organise! Spring cleaning the house, my room or getting all my makeup out and cleaning it and sorting it has triggered the thought of blog posts many times. It frees your mind and you feel so much better about yourself when its done, this is sure to give you inspiration.

I hope some of these tips help you become a bit more inspired and I will definitely be using some of these to help myself out too!

How To Create A Blog Comment Signature!

Today is a bit of a different post, I am in no way a wiz at computers or blogging however I recently learned how to do something I have been wanting to do for ages which I want to share with you. For months I have been wondering how to create a signature when I am commenting on other blogs with a link back to my site.

After trying may different things and failing and getting confused I finally found something that worked for me. It is really easy to create and its so handy to use so that other people can find your blog and you can also visit other peoples when they leave you comments too.

So when you would normally leave a link in the comments it may look like:

However you can create a nicer looking one like this:

Zoe Mountford x

This is what my signature looks like when I post a comment and it links back to my site.

Here is the code which I used to create it:

<a href='YourBlogURLHere'>TextHere</a>

To use this code where it says 'YourBlogURLHere' You would simply copy and past the URL to your blog homepage here. This is where you want the link to take them too, you don't have to use your homepage you can link to specific posts if you like however this just keeps it more simple.

Where in the code it says TextHere this is where you write the text you want to be displayed. So here is mine for example:

<a href='http://zoemountford.blogspot.co.uk/'>Zoe Mountford x</a>

You then need to copy and paste this code into a word document or keep it in a draft post then simply copy and paste whenever you leave someone a comment.

It is so easy to do and much prettier than just leaving your URL as a link. I no this works in Blogger however I am not fully sure on other blogging networks so let me no how you get on!

Pink Prom Makeup!

Hey everyone I'm back for another prom makeup today I hope you are enjoying them so far. This one today is one of y favourites so far as its really easy and simple but very effective. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
MAC Prolongwear concealer
No7 Translucent Loose Powder
Urban Decay Concealer Pencil in M16
Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I started my applying my foundation all over then concealing the under eyes and highlighting them with the concealer. I also used this to highlight the nose, forehead and chin. I then set the highlighted areas only with the loose powder to avoid creasing. I used the Urban Decay concealer pencil to contour the cheeks and around the forehead and jaw, then blended with a Real Techniques contour brush. I used the benefit bronzer over the cheeks and around the face to further blend the contour and to add warmth. I finished by applying my blusher to the cheeks and my highlighter to any areas that will naturally catch the light.

Eyes:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil
Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette
MAC Prolongwear Concealer
Maybelline Black Gel Liner
Benefit They're Real Mascara
The Vintage Cosmetics Company False Lashes in Nancy

I started by filling in my brows and setting them, I just neatened the shape and darkened them slightly. I primed the eyes with the concealer just to hide any veins and create an even base. I used the Benefit hoola bronzer in the crease just to add a little definition and tie it into the rest of the face. I then used the Maybelline gel liner to line the top lash line and create a long wing. To finish I used the mascara to the top and bottom lashes and applied my false lashes.

New Favourite Contour Product!

I am really in to contour and highlighting at the moment weather it be for daytime or nighttime looks I think adding a little more structure to the face make a huge difference the the end makeup result. There are so many contour products out at the moment and they are becoming more and more popular. I am not going to go into all the different types of contour products and how to use them as that would make up a whole different post. I am always buying and testing new products and on my last shopping trip I purchased this little beauty for my contouring.

This is the Urban Decay Concealer Pencil £14.00. The girl on the counter was so lovely and really helpful with finding what I needed. This is actually concealer which comes in all different shades to suit all different skin tones, however I chose the shade M16 which is one of the deeper shades and also a perfect shade for most skin tones as a contour shade. The texcture is really creamy and blends really well, its very pigmented so you can build up the contour to the strength you want it and it really does stay in place all day. As its a pencil you can also be very precise on where you apply it which is perfect for beginners too.

When I use it I simply draw on the skin where I want to contour and blend it out with a fluffy brush keeping it in the areas I have applied it, I love how it looks so natural on the skin. To finish off the makeup look and set it I ususlly go over it with my bronzer just to make sure it is all blended and there are no harsh lines.

It is such an easy product to use, it blends well over other products and doesn't move them around when applying it either. I like that you can make it nice and subtle for day time look but still have the definition or go all out for night time with a really defined look. It makes contouring so easy and effortless I would really great if you are just getting into the whole contouring scene!

Brown Smokey Prom Makeup

Hi everyone its the third look into my prom series, and I did struggle with a name to call it as its not your typical prom look. Smokey eyes and big nude lips are so popular so I thought I would use them in a prom appropriate makeup look. You can play around with the colours, ive chosen browns for my smokey eye as its a less harsh than black shades and they go with the lip colour nicely. I hope you like it.

Face:
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
MAC Prolongwear concealer
MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter in Light Boost
Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Urban Decay Concealer Pencil in M16
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

I applied the foundation all over the face with a beauty blender then concealed the under eyes with the MAC ProLongwear concealer. I used the prep and prime pen to hightlight the under eyes, forehead, bridge of the nose and chin. I then used the loose powder around the under eyes only with the to set the concealer before it creased. I then contoured my cheeks and around the forehead with the concealer pencil and used a precise brush to blend it out. I used my bronzer over the contour and up more onto the cheeks to ad warmth. I then finished with blusher and highlighter.

Eyes:
Illamsaqua Brow Cake in Thunder
Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Get in Brunette
MAC ProLongwear Concealer
Illamasqua Eyeshadows in Servant and Feint
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Barry M Dazzle Dust in 53
Maybelline Black Gel Liner
MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy
Benefit They're Real Mascara
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
The Vintage Cosmetics Company False Lashes in Nancy

I started by using the brow cake powder through my brows just to define the shape and darken them a little, then set them with the brow gel. For the eyes I primed them with the concealer to start. I then used Servant eye shadow by Illamsqua all through the crease with a big fluffy brush, then the bronzer over the top however keeping it more in the crease. I used a small brush to apply the dazzle dust all over the eyelid only building it up gradually. I then used the illamasqua eye shadow in Feint right into the crease to blend out the loose pigment. I used the gel liner to line the top of the eye and ended it in a large wing. I used the mac eye kohl n teddy to like the lower lash line and used the brush I used to apply the dazzle dust to blend it out. I applied a couple of coats of mascara to the top and bottom lashes and lined the water line with the NYX Jumbo eye pencil. To finish I applied my false lashes.

Lips:
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel
MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

I lined the lips with the pencil and filled in the outer corners to make them appear fuller. I used the lipstick all over the lips then used a tiny bit of the milk pencil to the centre of the lips and rubbed them together to blend. This creates the illusion of bigger fuller lips.

So that is my third prom look for you, I hope you are enjoying them so far.

April Favourites!

Its time for another favourites, this time there are a couple of new bits and a few I have rediscovered in my draws.

Lancôme Eyelash Curlers: I have only recently started to curl my eyelashes I have never bothered before as I have naturally long eyelashes I thought it may make them look a bit silly. For the past month however I have been using these eyelash curlers before applying my mascara and it has made such a massive difference. My eyes look a lot more open as my eyelashes are lifted and they look a lot more full and even longer.

Embryolisse  Lait-Crème Concentrate: It has taken me a while to get used to this and I have done a review which you can read here. Although I don't like to use this as my everyday moisturiser, I will use this quite often if I know I am going to be outside a lot. It creates a barrier on my skin from harsh weather and keeps it so nice and hydrated. My favourite thing to use it for at the moment is my primer. Having dry skin I don't desperately need a primer however this stops my skin feeling dry towards the end of the day and makes my makeup last a lot longer. Its really comfortable to wear under makeup and it sits and blends well over the top.

NYX Milk Jumbo Pencil: Love this at the moment to apply in the water line to make the eyes look a lot brighter and open. I have also been applying it to the centre of the lips to help create an ombre effect, and it is white it can be used with any shade of lipstick.

Real Techniques contour brush: I got this in the Real Techniques Core Collection set which ill leave the review I did on that here. This is my favourite brush out of the kit and have been using it constantly since I got it. Its such a handy and versatile brush and you can use this with all kinds of products.

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover: This is my favourite blusher for summer time and it is supper pigmented too. Its a perfect peach shade and looks really nice on its own or with bronzers etc. I like to wear this when I am not wearing much makeup in the summer time as its just gives a pretty wash of colour.

Maybelline The Eraser Eye Concealer: This has been in my draw for ages and I have re-discovered it recently. Its a really nice under eye concealer and very comfortable to wear. I do find I have to set with powder however I like the fuller coverage and its a nice one to use as your liquid highlight.

Swarovski Mini Bella Earrings: I brought these earrings about a week ago and I just love the colour of them. I am really into pastel blues and purples this summer and these are such a pretty shade of light blue. As they are quite light they will still go with most colours and I Iove that they are a little bit of a drop, as when the move they sparkle so much. I know I will get a lot of wear out of these this summer time.

So they are my April favourites I hope you like them and please share yours too!
