Disappointing Products!

Disappointing Products

I will be first to admit to myself I have a fairly large beauty collection, what beauty blogger hasn't? I love trying new beauty and makeup products, even more I love sharing with you the ones I love. It is a fact however that we are not going to love everything we try so today I wanted to share with you products that disappointed me. Disliking a product does get me down especially when I have spend my hard earned cash, however this all adds to the fun of trying something new. With these beauty products in particular, the quality wasn't up to what I expected and I am disappointed they just didn't work for me.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation - I purchased this foundation when it first launched, having very dry skin the thought of wearing a foundation with a luminous finish I thought "Yes, I am going to look like a flawless glowing goddess!" boy was I wrong. I actually loved the coverage, L'Oreal True Match being one of my holy grail foundations this was very similar being medium coverage and build able, I was able to achieve pretty full flawless coverage. There was an illuminating finish, maybe not as much as I was expecting however it was OK. All was going well until the next morning I woke up and my face was full of breakouts! I didn't want to point the finger too soon so after my skin had cleared up I tried it again and disappointingly the same thing happened. I have worn L'Oreal Lumi a few times since, hoping it was just a flook however this breaks me out every time.

Zoeva Cat Eye Pen - If you have followed me for some time you know I love my winged eyeliner. I had been looking for a liquid liner in particular and with Zoeva being one of my favourite brands I purchased the cat eye pen, which seemed easy to use as the tip is very fine and precise. This may look like the perfect eyeliner pen however there is one huge problem... no product comes out of it! When I swatch this on my hand it glides on with ease, it is very black and fine however when I hold the pen up to draw my liner on, no product comes out of the tip. Due to the angle you need to hold this pen to line the eyes the liquid liner inside must run down to the opposite end, which is irritating. I have been very disappointed in this product as I find it extremely hard to use as it simply does not work.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in In Love With Ginger - I feel like everyone was wearing this lipstick last summer, I heard so many reviews I had to purchase it. Although I don't feel like the shade really suits me this isn't the reason I was disappointed. I felt like the lipstick itself was quite messy, though it is very pigmented this lipstick is very slippery on the lips and it smudged and bled everywhere. I tried applying a lip liner first however It still didn't keep this baby put, the formula just isn't for me.

Illamasqua Skin Base Lift Concealer - Skin Base Foundation is a huge favourite of mine and I use it on clients all the time, so when I heard the concealer was being released I got my hands on it as soon as I could. I saw this on so many people and it looked lovely on them however I was really disappointed when using it on myself. I was expecting more coverage, this did nothing for my under eyes at all, I use a concealer to correct and brighten the under eye area however this didn't do that. Being so sheer you could not tell I had applied a concealer at all and applying more looked a thick cakey mess. This also creased a lot under my eyes too, even setting with powder it became to look crumbly after so long. Overall I am pretty unimpressed especially with price too.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick Smoke - I actually received this as a free gift with an order of makeup I purchased online. In general I love shadow sticks, they tend to be very long wearing and easy to use. They also work great as a base for powder eyeshadows, however this didn't live up to the mark for me. Though I like the shade and that it is very pigmented, this shadow stick is not long wearing at all. I find the texture is way to creamy, it moves around so much and is quite messy to work with. It doesn't stick around very long either, I can apply this to the lid and within a couple of minutes it has vanished. I have used powders and pigments on top however it absorbs any product I apply to secure it.

So they are my disappointing products, though it doesn't mean these won't work for you. So let me know if you have tried any of these and share what products didn't work for you!

    1. True match is my favourite too, it is a shame with drugstore products you can't get samples first x

  3. Such a shame the Loreal foundation broke you out. I have dry skin and its one of my all time favourites! I'm not a massive fan of the moisture renew lipsticks either - I agree the formula is to messy. My biggest disappointing product has to be the Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation xx

  7. I tried the Rimmel lipsticks, and the nude shades are alright, it's just the darker ones that are the problem. I have the dark plum shade and after a while it's like I smothered my mouth in blueberry jam! x
