Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks : Review and Swatches

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks
Liquid lipsticks are a makeup bag must have at the moment, although we are coming into summer now and it seems the lipgloss is making its way back, matte lips are always going to be a staple look. Just as we thought contouring may have taken a sideline to strobing last summer matte liquid lipsticks are going nowhere fast.

I have been wearing these lipsticks in particular for a long time now and have been promising a review, so today I am sharing all my thoughts and also showing you swatches of the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I have the shades Immortal (top), Ecstasy (middle) and Serenity (bottom).

So before I start to ramble about how much I love these liquid lipsticks lets talk about the cons, which I only have one. Although these are extremely affordable, I was surprised when I purchased my first one how small the bottle was. I was maybe expecting a little more product, maybe that is just me being a little greedy! However I am more than happy to pay the £9.50 from Beauty Bay as I have become so fond of them.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks Swatches

So here are the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid lipsticks swatches, from left to right we have Immortal, which is a beautiful bright red. In the middle is Ecstasy a cool toned purple and finally at the top Serenity, the perfect nude. Lets talk about the formula first, as you can see from the swatches they are extremely pigmented, yet the formula is so light weight. They apply very smoothly with no streaking, one coat is perfect like in the picture above however you can apply a second layer to build up colour intensity.

Now how do they wear? One thing I love about liquid lipsticks is that once you have applied them you don't have to worry about touching up, which is the exact case with these. Once these are applied they are not budging, I actually find them quite hard to remove, though I am not complaining. Hydra Matte sums up these liquid lipsticks perfectly, though they are extremely matte they are incredibly comfortable and are not drying on the lips one bit. I also find these much easier to apply than a normal lipstick, they are fuss free and less messy and with the wand I can achieve nice smooth edges to the lips easily. You don't need to line the lips either before applying them, sometimes I do however they will not bleed, and are easy to control without lining first.

Packaging is also important to me, I like the frosted effect of the bottles and the Gerard cosmetics signature gold top which makes it look more elegant. Even though the packaging is plastic it is extremely sturdy and I love how light weight they are which also means I can carry more around in my handbag!

I will leave below a link to makeup looks I have worn these in also so you can see what they look like on:

  1. I am LOVING liquid lipsticks at the mo so these sound amazing to me. I've recently tried the NYX Lingerie range and while I do love them they are quite drying, so the hydrating factor of these appeals to me :)
