Oval makeup brushes are a beauty product I have wanted to try for a long time, I know they are now quite common however I find most can be quite expensive. Not many affordable or drugstore brands have oval face brushes, as I was a little sceptical if they would work or not I didn't want to spend a lot of money and be disappointed. I did a little research and came across this Oval Brush set from Makeup Revolution which includes three oval brushes in different sizes for £19.99.
My first impressions of these oval makeup brushes was they are very light weight and smaller than I thought, holding them does take a little while to get used to however I found them comfortable to hold and easy to manoeuvre. The brushes themselves are super soft, dense and dome shaped, the rest of the brushes are a beautiful rose gold colour, overall very pretty and instagramable!
I used the oval brushes with liquid, cream and powder products and was very impressed, the largest face brush applied my foundation beautifully and I was able to build up a nice full coverage which I wasn't expecting. The smallest oval shape brush I used for concealer and again I loved how it applied my under eye concealer, I was able to blend it out evenly and there was no caking up at all. Finally the medium oval cheek brush I used for cream bronzer and blush, I was very impressed that the brush blended the creams over my foundation without disturbing it. With a combination of all three makeup brushes I was able to create a very flawless base.
I was surprised to read you can also use the oval fave brushes with powder products, something which I would not usually do as the brushes are so dense, however I had to try it out for this review. I set my under eyes and base using both loose and pressed powders and even though it is not a step I will take very often it worked very well.
I love these oval brushes and have really been enjoying using them, I don't have many cons other than the larger face brush feels less sturdy and ate up a bit of my foundation however this always happens to me with sponges too. I would love to pick up a more expensive set to test the difference as I can't say these are a dupe however I am completely happy with the makeup revolution set especially for the price. The oval brush set is perfect for beginners as they are so easy to use, if you have to do your makeup in a rush the face brush will be your best friend and even if you just like collecting pretty makeup products these are perfect. Each brush felt lovely and soft on my skin they are all very precise and blended out my makeup beautifully creating a lovely base.
